For the Sanguinarian Vampyre, bloodletting is practically a
way of life. This doesn't mean that they absolutely have to
drink blood to survive, nor will they kill for blood. It does
mean, simply, that they ingest blood.
There is a difference between a Sanguinarian and a Blood
Fetishist. A Sanguinarian drinks blood (look at the other
paragraph)...a Blood Fetishist gets off on either the sight
of blood or the idea of it (will revise this definition if
anyone can prove it wrong).
Bloodletting is not recommended for everyone as it is
dangerous and can cause disease. There are several safety
precautions to consider prior to drinking blood.
You and your donor(s) should get tested regularly for disease.
This is simple. You can go to your city/state health clinic and
do it anonymously. You call for the results and no one is the
wiser.
If you are going to use a syringe, lancet or razor, make sure
they are clean and sterile. Using utensils that are pre-packed is
the best way to guarantee sterility. I do not recommend using
syringes or razors unless they are brand new and wrapped. However,
you can boil lancets and razors, then sterilize them by soaking
them in isopropyl alcohol.
Don't bite. This leaves a sting because you have to rip the
flesh. And, the mouth is a cesspool of germs. The human mouth
harbors more germs than a dogs mouth (and they lick their butts).
So, biting is not only painful but nasty.
These are the main ways of bloodletting. Keep in mind, just
like unprotected sex, nothing is 100%. The best prevention is
not to do it at all.
