The back of the server despite the obvious differences is quite similar to the desktop units. Reading from left to right - External Keyboard, In/Out ports for the network, Parallel Port, Serial Port 1, External Video Port, Serial Port 2. Just above the keyboard port is a rocker off/on switch and above that is the AC in port and an auxilary power out port. Below the port row is a piano hinge so the mother board could be swung out to be changed or fixed. The unit had legs on the bottom and on the end if you wished to have the unit in the vertical instead of the horizontal. Each server could handle sixteen nodes (16 workstations plus itself as a network).
|
On the right, is the power supply and on the left, are the drives. On top, is a full size 5 1/4" floppy drive. Directly below the floppy drive, is a ten(10) megabyte hard drive. The motherboard can be glimpsed just below. The 10 mb harddrive was increased in later revisions to 64 mb. The pity here is that the number of nodes remained the same (16 workstations and a server).

The motherboard of the server is exactly the same as the desktop models with one exception. In the middle of the motherboard, a daughter board with one megabyte of memory is installed above the rest of the board. |
