08/08/2004 •  We welcomed visitors Charles and Tonja Burns. They are new to Lubbock and come here from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
•  Brent Hatchett introduced a potential money-making opportunity at the South Plains Fair - selling Turkey Legs. The fair is scheduled for September 24th through October 2nd. We'd be helping out for a couple of days and money is being raised to help buy some playground equipment for the church.
•  Mark McBrayer continued his topic called "Worship - Biblical Elements, Styles, and Significance".
•  Second B Seminary Fall Registration is now open. Three classes will be offered this semester, with a new "audit" component added. Announced class topics are: Pastoral Care, taught by Dr. Bob Powell, Christian Social Ethics, taught by Dr. Phillip Wise, and Baptist Heritage, taught by Mark McBrayer. CLICK HERE for details.

•  Celeste Church is asking for volunteer helpers for children's/youth choirs. She's leaving in early August, so let her know if you'd like to help.

•  Discussion will continue July 11th (most of us will be out July 4th) and Mark has asked the following questions:
      1) What 2 things at 2nd B would you change in terms of worship style?

•  Thursday's softball game was a loss...the team will conclude this season (barring any makeup games) with a 7:00 and 8:00 doubleheader on Thursday evening.
•  The Youth Group is looking for a used pool table to put in the Youth room. If anyone has a used pool table in good condition that could be donated, please contact Ben Ondrak at the church.
•  Children's Sunday School needs 8 checker sets for July 11th and 18th. If you have a set, just put your name on it and leave in the Art room on the dates indicated. You can pick them up right after Sunday school on those dates or the following Sunday.
06/13/2004 •  Jim Hill wrapped up his discussion on the topic of money. Resources for his discussion included an excellent book by Joe Domiguez and Vicki Robin entitled "Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship With Money and Achieving Financial Independence".
•  Thursday's softball game was a loss (where's the rain now?)...the team will try to get back on track with a split-time doubleheader on Thursday.
•  Vacation Bible School will be held July 26th-30 from 9am-12pm each day for children ages 3-12. All Children Welcome! Donated items needed include: shoeboxes (any size), toilet paper/paper towel tubes, green strawberry baskets, parmesan cheese shaker bottles, and old CDs. Please drop these items by the office.

05/30/2004 •  During Mark McBrayer's 3-week absence (see 5/23/04 notes) Jim Hill will discuss the topic of money. Resources for his discussion include a book by Joe Domiguez and Vicki Robin entitled "Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship With Money and Achieving Financial Independence".
•  Family Swim Night: Saturday, June 5th, 2004 7-9 pm at Melonie Park South Swimming Pool - 3426 74th. Bring ice cream, goodies, and the whole family to enjoy an evening by the pool. Lifeguards are provided.
•  May Mission Focus (Bread For The World): Our May mission project wrapped up this week.

05/23/2004 •  Mark McBrayer's Bible Study (see notes 5/16/2004) covering elements of and biblical references to Worship will return June 20th. He has given us an assignment: Read 1st Corinthians, Chapters 5-14, make some notes about worship as Paul saw it.

05/16/2004 •  May Mission Focus - Bread For The World

May 16th: Old Testament References
May 23rd: New Testament References
   (Out 3 Weeks)
June 20th: Contemporary Expressions.
