Daniel Allen Wilson grew up in Barrington Illinois. He attended Barrington Illinois High School, and won all-state honors three times as a goalie in Hockey and twice as a pitcher and catcher. He was also the starting quarterback for his high school football team. Check below for a rare shot of Danny pitching...and his awesome stats from High School.

Dan graduated from High School in 1987, and went to the University of Minnesota where he majored in Mechanical engineering. He was selected by the New York Mets in the 1987 June Draft but he chose to continue in college, and did not sign with the Mets at that time. Dan was chosen as the #1 draft pick by Cincinnati in 1990, and he came up as a rookie in the Red's Organizaton.

The Red's traded Dan Wilson and Bobby Ayala to the Seattle Mariners for Erik Hanson and Brett Boone in November of 1993. Lou Piniella, the manager of the Mariners, insisted That Dan be included in the trade because he liked what he saw in Dan when he managed the Red's in 1991 and '92.

Dan's come a long way since High School. He's been the starting catcher for the Mariners since 1994, and is considered a defensive expert behind the plate.

Dan's bat heated up in 1996 and he was chosen as an American League representative for the Mariners at the all-star game that year.

In 1996, Dan joined some of his Mariner teammates in Philadelphia's Veterans Stadium for the AllStar Game... left to right Dan Wilson, Jay Buhner, Edgar Martinez and Alex Rodriguez. Ken Griffey Jr. also attended the Allstar game but because of injury couldn't play in the game.

Dan Wilson's consistancy as a player, and his willingness to give so much of himself to charitable endeavers in the community make him a true role model and a VERY popular member of the Seattle Mariners, with players and fans alike.
