having videoed almost every event
and created and maintained a website (formerly this one!) for all the girls and families to visit and
share pictures and memories as they progressed through their challenging and rewarding years of GHHS
Cheer; having now ushered my youngest out of high school and into college; I figured I was finally done. DONE, you know, as in:
Yet, while perusing the thousands of photos
and and extensive miles of videotape of those four years, and what they represent,
I thought back to my high school
experience and how very little of it was captured and saved, or
if it was, how inaccessible it has obviously been to me (remember, this was before digital technology and
the internet; heck, before dirt, too!).
What happened to the teammates I practiced, competed,
socialized, and played with? Where are they now? What are they doing, what have they accomplished?
I thought I'd like to know. Would've been nice to keep tabs on each other and maybe share the memories
and, perhaps, strengthen and rekindle old relationships.
Looking at the these faces, the moments so infinitely varied, encompassing the whole range of human emotion
and experience, and looking now at what GHHS Cheer has become and where it is now heading, I realized those four years were
not just special
because, of course, I was involved, no,
but really special because of all those that got involved. The girls themselves,
the parents, the coaches, the administration and yes, the ever-faithful alumni, friends and loyal supporters of what was an
incredible Cheer program during those years.
So, this site is both a eulogy and a celebration of those four remarkable years as well as a place
for everyone to check in and keep updated on the continuing paths of the girls, parents, and friends of four
very special seasons of GHHS Cheer:
The last great years of Granada Cheer.
Here you will find both the yin and the yang of those years; in the images, in contributions of alumni, in the irreverent bite of Cheermunster's Corner, in your contributions, and ultimately, in your own heart and mind.
Like those four years, and in life in general,
it is simply what you make of it.
Nothing less.
Nothing more.
This was something special.
The Last Great Years of Granada Cheer.
