My thoughts on him as Van Fanel: I give this guy an 11 out of 10 for his job as Van in Escaflowne!! He has a great voice for it. He can make it sound somewhat like a 15 year old. You can hear the proudness and anger in his voice, but you can also hear the sincerity and care. For me, it's his voice that makes the character "cute". ^_~

UPDATE - (05/18/03) I got to meet Kirby at Anime North this weekend. He's awesome, very funny. He, like Brian, was one of the first people we talked to (as a matter of fact as we were talking to Mr. D, he snuck up behind him). We asked him what he thought happened between Van and Hitomi after esca, so for all those curious, here is his opinion, a transcript of our taped little Q&A session with him. ^_^
K: "Well there was lotsa kissing... some crazy stuff with energists... hmm... skinny-dipped a couple times... and a whole bunch of other stuff we can't say on camera."
A(me): "Don't worry, this is being shown to adults."
K: "Oh! Well then. *with a monotonous mocky look* They both studied really hard and became doctors."
A: "and lawyers and princes!"
K: "no, lawyers are evil."
 He was fun to talk to, and we were lucky to catch him before the other 3 dozen fangirls did. ^_^
