Jajuka was abruptly introduced to Escaflowne watchers in episode 19 (23 in the uncut). His arrival, at the time, seemed abrupt and out of place, but in truth his role was one of the most crucial in this series. He is the (beast)man who regretfully brought Celena up only so she could be transformed into Dilandau. He knew this and when the youngster was taken from him, he begged the guards and sorcerors not to do it.

    Jajuka is 21 years old, like Allen, and, like Allen, has long blond hair (though in fanfics where he actually is mentioned, his hair is not one of his priorities). My theory is that these traits factor in to Celena's trust in the beastman. Although his introduction to her when she was little came out pretty awkward ("Please, eat something. I'll get into trouble if you die."), Jajuka's compassion for her was something very deep. He became, in a way, a replacement for Allen. He became Celena's true and loyal friend, her protector, her knight, in an unusual way. She grew fond of him, despite the rather unfortunate circumstances of the situation. I, personally, believe that they fell in love, and it was a silent acknowledgement between them. And no, I don't think that Jajuka was gay with Dilandau.

    Jajuka never really wanted to be a part of Zaibach (or at least, he stopped supporting the evil organization when sweet little Celena was delivered into his paws to be taken care of). He had a good heart until the very end, and I must admit that I was disappointed when Van killed him. After all, Jajuka was a crucial character! By golly, if it hadn't been for him, that poor little snail would have become an apetizer!
