Hitomi
    Hitomi is a 15 year-old girl from earth. She's a star track athlete who has a crush on the captain of the track team. (Geez, make up your mind, Hitomi! Is it Allen, Amano, or Van??) She didn't know about Gaea until the vision of a boy her age fighting a dragon. The vision comes true and off she goes to Gaea, transported by a strange beam of light.
    At first Hitomi finds Gaea quite unusual, especially with its strange part-human part-animal people (i.e. Merle).
    Soon, after being transported from Fanelia to an unknown forest, Hitomi encounters Allen Shezar. She falls for him almost immediately, maybe because of his charm, maybe because of his striking resemblance to Amano.
    When they arrive in Asturia, they meet Millerna, someone who Hitomi is jealous of because she seems to be involved with Allen.
    Merle is always stealing her stuff, from pagers to food, even her special pendant. Merle is usually at her throat because of Hitomi's special connection with "Lord Van". 
    Hitomi has a special pendant that her gandmother gave to her. "Every swing is equal to a full second." she explains. She doesn't realise until she goes to Gaea that it posseses a magical power.
    Hitomi has visions of things that will happen in the future, and they always come true. She uses this ability to warn Van (many times) of upcoming danger, and she also aids him in locating invisible enemies.
    She doesn't realise that Van has feelings for her until later, when she realises that she loves him, more than a friend. That special episode comes much later. We find out for sure about Van's crush about midway through the series. Hitomi knows his secret, the secret about him having wings, and she and Merle are the only ones who find his wings beautiful.
    Hitomi seems to worry a lot, and from the first few episodes we begin to wonder if her vocabulary goes past "oh Allen...". She seems to have her head in the clouds, and no one really believes her abilities. But after she saves a few lives, people begin to realise that she really DOES have visions.
