Goau was the king of Fanelia. One night as he was walking with Balgus he encountered Varie and was struck by her beauty. He took her back to his castles, told his advisors to kindly screw off with their resentment toward the Draconian woman, and then he had two kids. He died at a young age, perhaps no more than 35, and judging from the way Balgus says "I'm too late", it can be presumed that he died from an illness.
There is not enough screen time for Goau for me to inform an opinion on him, but Balgus's respect for him is enough to lead viewers to the conclusion that Goau was a great and respected king.
