This is the episode
that FOX never showed, but YTV did. Unlike the other 9 episodes previously
shown, this episode starts off with Van saying "previously on Escaflowne".
The usual sound of Hitomi's voice saying "Was it all just a dream? Or maybe
a vision...? No, it was real..." is gone.
Zongi is running through
the forest. The trees suddenly swarm up in front of him, like the weird
waxy substance from the previous ep. He jumps up a tree, realizing that
he's seeing things. "I must tell Lord Folken." he says to himself.
Meanwhile, in the
interrogation room, Van, Merle, and Allen, are on their knees, tied up.
"So you're saying that Plactu was a Zaibach
spy?" asks Chid.
"Yes... black hands.. he's going to..."
says Hitomi
"Where is Plactu now?" Chid asks Vorus.
Vorus replies that he is nowhere to be found.
"He ran away!" says Van, "Your Highness,
we have to track him down right away! If we don't he'll tell Zaibach about
Hitomi's secret!"
"SILENCE!" shouts Vorus, advising Chid
not to listen to them. Chid gets angry at Vorus and approaches Allen. He
slowly takes out his little sword.
"No, Chid. Sometimes it takes more courage
to believe in someone than to fight and dismiss them so easily." Chid brings
down the sword...
and cuts Allen's ropes. Allen is surprised,
and Chid asks him to help him track down the Zaibach spy, Plactu. Allen
isn't well enough so Van volunteers. Hitomi announces that she's going
along too. The Escaflowne rises into the air in dragon mode. Hitomi says
that she doesn't care what kind of creature he is, she can't let that vision
come true.
"See anything, Hitomi?" asks Van. She
sees her pendant swing in a direction.
"There's a tower..."
"Got it!" Van directs his Escaflowne
in that direction.
At the tower, Zongi is crouching before
Dilandau.
"A girl from the Mystic Moon?" demands
Dilandau.
"Yes," replies Zongi, "A horrible woman
who sees the unseen and knows the past and future." Dilandau grins suddenly.
"I get it" he says. There are a few clips:
Dilandau seeing Hitomi for the first time and commenting on her strange
clothes, Then Hitomi saves Van on the bridge in Asturia,("that explains
what happened when..." says Dilandau) Hitomi points to the invisible
guymelef, ("and then...") Hitomi warns Van about Dilandau hidden
in the smoke, Van cuts Dilandau's cheek ("And that time, too.") Dilandau
touches his scar. "That explains everything. Good work, Zongi."
"I humbly accept your praise, Lord Dilandau."
Dilandau climbs into his guymelef.
"Now accept your reward!" says Dilandau.
The grayish wax climbs up Zongi.
"What are you doing, Lord Dilandau???"
"You hurt Migel."
"I was just doing my duty!!"
"That was a very bad thing you did to
him." A scene of where Zongi kills Migel is shown.
"What are you doing? STOP!!" cries Zongi.
"Is that it?" asks Van, heading for a
tower.
"Van, please hurry!" pleads Hitomi. (Dilandau
continues to kill Zongi) "We're not going to make it."
Hitomi has a vision of her being ingulfed
by the wax, but just before she's completely covered, she manages to call
out for Van. "No stop it!" she cries, and comes close to fainting. She
falls back against Van.
"Hitomi!" he shouts.
"It's Escaflowne," says Dilandau. "This
is my lucky day. Chesta! Gadi!"
"Hitomi, come on, snap out of it!" says
Van. Chesta, Gadi, and Dilandau are shooting fire at Escaflowne.
"Enjoying the fireworks, Van?" says Dilandau,
laughing maniacally.
"Hitomi?" Van looks down at Hitomi, who
is kinda dazed.
"Just... picture them... in your mind."
"You mean in the middle of a fight?"
asks Van, incredulous.
"If
anyone can do it," says Hitomi, putting her hand over Van's, "I know you
can."
"Come down here!" shouts Dilandau.
"Concentrate." says Hitomi. "I know you
can do it."
"Gotcha!" says Van. He attacks
Dilandau. The two fight, (yes, the escaflowne dragon is able to hold a
sword) Van blocks all of Dilandau's takes, still holding onto Hitomi.
"It's her!" says Dilandau, disgusted,
"The troublemaker from the mystic moon!"
Van suddenly realizes what's going on.
"He wants you!" he tells Hitomi. After
butting Dilandau in the "stomach" of his guymelef, the dragon soars away.
Dilandau screams that he's not done with them, and tries to fly. He doesn't
have enough power.
By the time they reach Freid again, it's
morning. (It takes them THAT long??) Van is sighing because they lost the
only proof they had that Plactu was a Zaibach spy.Vorus says that Van and
Hitomi proved themselves by returning. Millerna comments on how much Chid
and Allen look alike.
A guard whispers to Vorus that the Duke
has returned.
"Good news!" says Vorus, "I've just learned
the Duke has returned."
"My father's back?" says Chid, excited.
Chid's father... thinks Hitomi. I wonder what he's like...
We find that the Duke of Freid is kind
of grumpy. He doesn't look anything like Chid (hmm, wonder why), and he's
disappointed that Allen left his country. Freid was aware of Zaibach's
intentions.
Millerna steps up, saying that she left
her country too. Duke Freid sighs, and asks Allen to be part of the guards.
The guards are preparing their guymelefs.
Millerna is bandaging Allen's wounds. He is deep in thought, thinking of
Marlene.
"Allen," says Millerna. "I don't care
about Asturia OR Freid... Just as long as you're safe." She "hugs" him.
Moleman is spying on them. There is a quick "Meow!" as Merle jumps up in
front of Moleman.
"What do you think you're doing?" she
asks.
"Nu-Nothing?" says Moleman. Merle opens
the "door" to where Allen and Millerna are, and asks if Allen has seen
Hitomi. He hasn't, and Merle apologizes for disturbing them.
Hitomi is standing on the balcony looking
down. She has the vision of Zongi dying again. "Why do I keep seeing it??"
she demands. She hears a "meow", quite similar to the one that Moleman
heard.
Merle is sitting against the wall.
"I never get tired of watching
you," she says. "You're crazy." (the look on Merle's face when she says
this is priceless. I wish I had a pic of it!!) Merle says that Van
wants to see her.
Meanwhile, Van is in the guymelef room
with Allen's crew. They're sharpening his
guymelef's
sword. "The boss' isn't as beat-up as this, your Highness," says one of
them, in a mocking tone. Van says that he's not as good as Allen. Gadus
says that the other guy is lying, the boss' has a couple of knicks on it.
"Lord Van!" says Merle, jumping up to
hug him. Hitomi is walking slowly behind her. As she nears Van, Merle hisses
at her.
"Hitomi," says Van with a smile.
"You wanted to see me?"
"That's right, I wanted to ask for your
help."
"Oh?"
"You see, you've been able to predict
attacks, and see invisible enemies. I was hoping we could use that to predict
where Zaibach is going to attack from."
"That's a great idea, your highness,"
says one of the men.
"Yeah, this little lady will be our goddess
of victory." They laugh, happy.
"NO! No way." says Hitomi.
"Hitomi..?" asks Van, concerned.
"I won't! I don't want to see it! I won't
be used as a tool. I keep having these horrible visions. I.... "
"Hitomi," says Van.
"Just stop counting on me!" she shouts.
She runs from the guymelef room.
She
sits by a little fountain, staring down into the water. There is a scene
where two classmates are asking Hitomi about the future. "Do my boyfriend
and I belong together?" "When will I know he's the one?" "Ya, your predictions
almost always come true."
Fortune telling... thinks Hitomi
sadly. it was just a game!
Millerna is wandering around the palace's
property and sees what looks like a little house. The lights are on and
the door is a bit open. (The music playing in the background is called
"Fanelia", and it's from the original version). Duke Freid is inside, staring
at a large portrait of Marlene.
"Excuse me, Duke Freid?" says Millerna.
He turns around. "What is this place?"
"It's a villa that Marlene came to often
when she was alive. Please, feel free to use these rooms to ring your stay
here. I'm quite sure Marlene would have liked that." He leaves the villa.
Marlene runs her fingers over the bookcase, and comes across a music box.
"I remember this," says Millerna. She plays it. (the tune you hear is Yakusoku
wa Iranai, the opening theme for the original version). Millerna is brought
to a flashback.
"You're leaving,
aren't you, sister?" says a kid Millerna sadly.
"Oh Millerna," says Marlene.
"Princess Marlene, it's time to go,"
says a much younger Allen. (He has SHORT hair!! O_O!!)
A ship flies into the air. "Goodbye
my sister! Please be happy!" the little Millerna shouts from the crowd
below.
"Oh, my sister," sighs Millerna. She
taps one of the men on the music boks, and his head folds in. The music
box turns around revealing a secret compartment. There is a book there.
"Ohmigoodness what's this...?" says Millerna. She reads from the book.
Yellow, 32 moon.
Uncle Nuava brought me to a tournament today. I think he's worried that
I spend too much time in my room. Unfortunately I'm not the least bit interested
in fighting. But there I saw a knight of Asturia. A young prodigy of the
sword. His name is Allen Schezar.
"Ohmigoodness, this is Marlene's diary!"
gasps Millerna. "Green, the 12th moon. The blond youth has been named
a knight of Kenori. In all of Asturia, only 12 knights at any one time
may have that honor. A knight of the heavens. The name suits him perfectly.
He's received guard duty, and has left for the castle at palace. It looks
as if my hints to father have worked. "Oh my sister..." "Red,___moon.
I have been betrothed to the Duke of Freid. This is the fate of women and
knights born of the blood. I like him, but I'm in love with Allen... The
diary continues to be read by Millerna, page after page... It has to
be. The child is the result of that night. (or did she say "Knight"?)
I can't tell the duke. What will he say? I can't hide it forever..
"Chid was conceived by the forbidden
love of Allen and Marlene! No..."
Van is practicing his bow and arrow.
Merle is watching him. He never gets it. He keeps thinking of Hitomi.
"Hitomi?" says Chid. He approaches her
quietly. "Are you having trouble sleeping?"
"Oh, Prince Chid. I can't put my finger
on it... but I feel if I went to sleep, I'd never wake up." Chid sits down
next to her. He says that he understands, he's trying to live up to Mother
and Father's expectations.
"You know something? People have an amazing
ability."
"Huh?"
"That's right, my grandmother told me
all about it. You should keep thinking 'I wish I were', or 'I want to be'.
If you say those things, your wishes will come true."
"Your wishes will come true?"
"If you keep thinking, 'I wish I were',
then you'll work toward that goal, and you'll try your hardest. If you
wish hard enough, your wish will eventually reach the stars, and they'll
give you the last of their power... the power of the stars."
Van shoots his arrow again, and gets
it right on target.
Meanwhile, Dilandau is plotting.
"Everyone stand by for battle!" he says.
(In the exact same scene as in episode 2)
Van, my brother, thinks Folken.
This was meant to be...
