As usual, at the beginning
of the episode, Hitomi reminds the viewers of what happened in the previous
episode: "Was it all just a dream? Maybe it was in the cards. Or
maybe it had something to do with my pendant...." and she recounts what
happened. She was transported to another world, and the last thing that
happened was that she was surrounded by "wolfmen" who are Van's servants.
As she is riding with Van to Fanelia, the wolfman asks Van about Hitomi.
He shrugs, saying something
like,
"the cat followed me home." Hitomi looks up and sees the Mystic Moon
in
the sky. She is reminded of Earth....
She running the race on the track. Suddenly a boy in armor appears.
We see the reflection of him in Hitomi's frightened eyes. She runs into
him, and he hastily shoves her aside. "It's coming," he says in a low voice,
"the
dragon."
Hitomi is running up to Amano. She asks him to do her a favor: "Amano..
if I manage to get 13 seconds in the run, will you... will you give me
my first kiss?" He smiles. "I'd be honored."
Van is fighting the dragon. Hitomi is there, watching. The dragon's tail
comes down towards Van but he doesn't see it. "Above you!!" shrieks Hitomi.
Van sees the tail and jumps out of the way. His armor is ripped off by
the dragon's sharp tail. He kills the dragon and takes the energist. A
beam of light shoots out of the sky, slowly lifting Van and Hitomi upward.
"Hitomi! Hitomi!!!"
shouts Amano.
"My hand, hurry!"
she reaches for his hand but she can only grasp the pendant. She's carried
off by the beam of light.
When Van, Hitomi, and the wolfman arrive at Fanelia, it's morning. Van
jumps out of the carriage and is greeted by Merle, a catgirl who clings
to him and licks his face.
"I was so worried!!"
she says. Then Balgus appears and Merle quickly slinks away and bows.
"Welcome home, Prince
Van." says Balgus.
"That guy is a prince??"
thinks Hitomi. Van tells the samurai that he has completed the rite and
has
the
energist. The samurai confirm that he's telling the truth.
Hitomi is given a
room in the palace. She sits at her window, pensive. "What am I doing here?"
she
wonders. As she stares out the window, Merle's head suddenly appears. Hitomi
backs away, startled.
"Haven't you ever
heard of using the door??" she demands angrily. Merle ignores the comment
and licks her wrist. "Don't get too close to him, got it?" she says.
"Huh?"
says Hitomi.
"Keep away from Prince
Van." Hitomi says something, but Merle ignores her, and her eyes light
up as she sees Hitomi's track bag.
"Hey!" says Hitomi.
Merle rummages through the bag, and finding nothing interesting, turns
back to
Hitomi.
Her eyes catch on something. It's Hitomi's pendant. She
snatches it (Hitomi is left holding her hand in disbelief). "Wow... pretty.."
says Merle in wonder. "I think I'll keep it." she runs off.
"Hey, you cat burglar!
Come back here!" she chases after Merle. Hitomi stops at a room, the door
is open so she watches. Balgus and Van are practicing swordfighting. Van
charges at Balgus but
Balgus easily blocks
the attack.
"You're not charging
aggressively enough. You've got to come at me as if you
mean to kill me."
Balgus advises.
"I don't like mortal
combat."
"Stop, Lord Van. That
is no way for a man who is about to become king to act."
"Like I'm becoming
king because I want to be.."
"Lord Van!"
Hitomi interrupts.
She looks embarrassed and she bows and apologizes.
"Oh it's you again."
Van rolls his eyes.
"That's the problem
with you foreigners. You have NO manners." Merle says.
She shoves the pendant
onto Hitomi.
Balgus
apporaches Hitomi. He promises to find a way to get her back to her home.
"Really? You can do
that?"
"Of course!"
The
ceremony of the new king begins (he looks funny, LOL).Meanwhile, 2 guards
notice something funny on the horizon. The air becomes wavy and a metal
claw shoots out
of
nowhere. The battle between Fanelia and Zaibach begins. Balgus orders Van
to go activate the Escaflowne, and to bring Hitomi with him. There is a
cool sequence
when
Van activates the Escaflowne. Van climbs into the Escaflowne and picks
up Hitomi. The battle goes on and Van orders Balgus to retreat. But it
is too late. A guymelef shoots a laser and kills Balgus (surprisingly,
Hitomi seems to be more upset
about this than Van).
Suddenly another beam of light appears and they are transported once again
to a different place.
The city is in ruins, fire and smoke everywhere. Merle
looks down from the
safe cliff, along with a crowd of citizens of Fanelia. "Oh no, Lord Van..."
she says. "LORD VAAAAAAAN!!!!!" she shouts/cries. To be continued...
